Privacy

TrainZzz is a catalogue of European night trains plus an optional berth watch: we can email you or ping you on Telegram when a Nightjet or European Sleeper cabin is actually on sale. The catalogue pages are pre-rendered.

Sign in with Google

If you sign in, Google sends us your account id, verified email, and name. We use that to attach watches to you and to send email alerts to that address. We do not get your Google password. You can sign out from the site header. Signing out does not delete watches; use the manage link on each watch, or the Watches page while signed in.

Berth watches

If you start a watch we store the cities, date window, cabin type, whether we have already notified you for a given night, and the channel you chose: your Google email and/or a Telegram chat id. That data lives in a Neon (Postgres) database in the EU. Email alerts go out over Gmail SMTP from the TrainZzz watch inbox. Telegram confirmation and alerts go through Telegram's Bot API. A Telegram-only watch is not active until you tap Start in the bot. Email watches using a Google-verified address turn on immediately. Every alert includes a manage link to pause or delete the watch. Start links expire after seven days; manage links expire after one year. We do not sell this list.

What the site loads

Pages are pre-rendered and served as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript from the host (Vercel, Inc., United States). The host writes standard web-server access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for operational purposes such as abuse prevention and capacity planning. Analytics

The site uses PostHog to count visits. See PostHog's privacy policy.

Live train status

When you load a route or planner page, the site may call one of these public transit APIs to fetch live status: Deutsche Bahn (transport.rest), ÖBB, SNCB, SBB, SNCF, PKP, and Trenitalia (ViaggiaTreno). These calls happen from your browser and from our server. The APIs are operated by the respective rail carriers and are subject to their own terms.

Data sources

The route catalogue is built from the open Back-on-Track night-train-data dataset and enriched with public timetable data. None of this involves personal information.
